Janie Michaels Grauman, MSW, LCSW

Based in Los Angeles, Janie Michaels Grauman is a licensed clinical social worker who has specialized in meeting the needs of older adults for more than 25 years. She has worked as a private practice psychotherapist, a geriatric case manager and a clinical supervisor for graduate students and individuals working toward licensure.  She currently facilitates several support groups for caregivers and for people with early-stage dementia. She also serves as a Community Educator for the Alzheimer’s Association.

Ms. Grauman frequently presents “On Your Toes: A Four Step Strategy for Dealing with Dementia,” a workshop she developed to help caregivers respond effectively to dementia-related behaviors and to manage their daily stress. She also offers private, one-on-one caregiver consultations.  Focusing on the client’s individual journey, strategies are developed to:

•   Manage difficult behaviors

•   Develop specific steps/routines for daily self-care

•   Examine the barriers to implementing the above

Ms. Grauman is available to make presentations on dementia and caregiving to large or small groups. Charges vary based on audience size.

 

Coaching sessions

 

Done via Zoom, these sessions help you identify the challenging issues you face as a caregiver for a loved one afflicted with dementia, then develop a plan to handle your role effectively while reducing your level of stress.
